7.20.2012 Colorado Shooting

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you!  Thank you for this beautiful day you’ve made and all that it holds, I shall be glad in it and rejoice.  Even as I awake to horrific news God, I know you never sleep or slumber so this news didn’t catch you off guard.  I pray for each of the families of the 70 people who were shot in that theater.  God I pray that you welcomed some people home this morning of the 12 who were killed.  God I’ll be honest, to our earthly minds this makes no sense whatsoever.  But somehow you will use what the enemy meant for bad for good.  I lay each and every victim in this shooting at your feet.  God give them rest – many of them are afraid to close their eyes and sleep.  Please erase the fear that this incident tried to implant in their hearts.  We rebuke it in the Name of Jesus.  God we pray for husbands and wives and children who will have to go on living without someone they loved so very much.  I pray comfort for them Lord and the peace that passes all understanding.

Lord, I pray even right now for those in critical condition.  I pray that you would dispatch angels around their hospital beds.  Heal their bodies.  We declare them overcomers by the blood of the lamb.  They will live to declare the testimony of how you saved their lives and gave them another chance at life.  Please rain peace on that whole community near Denver, Co.  God I pray that this day that the enemy meant for bad becomes the day that lives were changed for the good and your glory.  Someone in that movie theater will come to know Jesus now.  Someone in that theater will finish that book, write those songs, witness to others of your amazing grace.  Someone in that theater is finally going to forgive the folks who hurt them most, someone in there will never be the same.  They saw the protective hand of God and they know their purpose and will walk in it now.  God I thank you for your love and your grace.  I thank you that people want to know you now like never before.  We will not let evil have this moment.  With as much ammunition that was fired we know you stopped bullets left and right in that theater.  You are an awesome God.  No, we don’t understand the situation, but ye, we trust You, our God.

God, I even now pray for James Holmes.  I’ll be honest.  It’s hard.  At this point I don’t know what to pray for him, except for his soul’s salvation.  He needs you too Jesus…yes, even him. We all need the blood of Jesus to right our twisted wrongs.

God I turn this tragedy, these victims turned victors and their families, yes, even the community all over to you.  You know what they need most and just how to get it to them.  You are Abba Father, Daddy God and right now some of these of these folks need to rest in your bosom.  Creator God, please create peace in their hearts.  Providing God, please meet them at their points of need.  God of peace, let your peace rest, rule, reign and abide in that community.  We bind and rebuke all copy cats and other plans, plots and schemes of the enemy.  We are strong and courageous through Christ Jesus.  We send our prayers and our faith to all the victims and their families.

Thank you God for hearing and answering this prayer in Jesus Name.  Amen!

Where did Headlines of the Heart come from?

Below is the original piece that sparked this idea…Jan 30, 2009 8:50 AM

Headlines of your Heart

Murder/suicide of 7 in CA – Murder/suicide of 5 in OH – Ted Haggard – Billions in bonuses for Wallstreet employees – Mother of 6, has 8 more and husband going back to Iraq – Airlines in financial crisis – Cardinals in the Super Bowl? – Blagojevich is ousted – Citigroup’s $50 million dollar jet order, after $45 billion bailout – A monument to the shoe thrown at Bush? – Israel – Cholera in Zimbabwe, out of control

Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don’t for a minute lose sight of them. They’ll keep your soul alive and well, they’ll keep you fit and attractive. You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, Because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound. Proverbs 3:21-26 Message

I use to live in this nice little bubble. I would watch the news occasionally, look at local news, catch a few national headlines here and there and was just fine. But lately, God has led me to pull prayer requests straight from the headlines, almost daily. I have no choice but to know what is going on in the world and lay it before God in prayer.

So you’re wondering, what’s the headlines of your heart? Glad you asked…I did too.

Like with a newspaper, the headline is the most important. What’s going to catch your attention. It’s not the whole story, but it’s just enough to give you a general sense of what’s going on. Often times you can’t read the whole article. You may not have the time or it may not be available, but the headline gives you enough to go on. If you’re like me, thoughts of the terrible news in the world lingers in our hearts and minds. Therefore making it a headline of the heart. What do we do with these headlines of the heart? We give them to God in prayer. We turn the very thing that is going on in the world over to the one who created the world.

What’s so wonderful to me about that is no matter what the headlines say, God is still right there. He knew what they would say before they were even printed or spoken. He knows the solution and when it’s coming. After our headlines have been read or spoken, we can then read the Godlines in His word and be strengthened and empowered and realize that the Godlines outweigh the headlines every day.

Rest well dear friend, our headlines are in the hands of God, the heart of God and the mind of God, and He’s given you His Godlines in exchange!
