Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don’t for a minute lose sight of them. They’ll keep your soul alive and well, they’ll keep you fit and attractive. You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, Because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound. Proverbs 3:21-26 Message
I use to live in this nice little bubble. I would watch the news occasionally, look at local news, catch a few national headlines here and there and was just fine. But lately, God has led me to pull prayer requests straight from the headlines, almost daily. I have no choice but to know what is going on in the world and lay it before God in prayer.
So you’re wondering, what’s the headlines of your heart? Glad you asked…I did too.
Like with a newspaper, the headline is the most important. What’s going to catch your attention. It’s not the whole story, but it’s just enough to give you a general sense of what’s going on. Often times you can’t read the whole article. You may not have the time or it may not be available, but the headline gives you enough to go on. If you’re like me, thoughts of the terrible news in the world lingers in our hearts and minds. Therefore making it a headline of the heart. What do we do with these headlines of the heart? We give them to God in prayer. We turn the very thing that is going on in the world over to the one who created the world.
What’s so wonderful to me about that is no matter what the headlines say, God is still right there. He knew what they would say before they were even printed or spoken. He knows the solution and when it’s coming. After our headlines have been read or spoken, we can then read the Godlines in His word and be strengthened and empowered and realize that the Godlines outweigh the headlines every day.
Rest well dear friend, our headlines are in the hands of God, the heart of God and the mind of God, and He’s given you His Godlines in exchange!
